MotoGP World champion Casey Stoner hopes his employer retired Ducati can produce a more consistent challenge in 2012-especially with the amount of work the bike in front of the field is shrinking.
Ducati has not won a race since 2010, Stoner Honda and Yamaha team dominated last season. During the winter of Suzuki MotoGP left and pulled the entry of Honda Racing F1 team scaled back from three to two, potentially leaving only four potential winners of the race bike in front of the field if Ducati struggle again.
Stoner skeptical about the possibility of reverting to the form in Ducati’s time to start the 2012 campaign, but said he was hoping to be proven wrong because he felt the third manufacturer needs MotoGP struggled up front.
“Ducati said they completely revamped 90 percent of the bike, but they do so in the middle of last year,” Stoner said MotoGP official site. “They changed the bike back to front and top to bottom and nothing much has changed.
“I hope, for the sake of Ducati’s, that they can collect the bike competitive this year because of the need it.
